Abstract | Exploring the inherent spectral selectivity of ultra-high temperature ceramics is of great significance to prepare solar absorber coatings with a simple structure and low cost. The present work shows a further improvement towards the design and deposition of the multilayer spectrally selective absorber coatings based on HfB2 and ZrB2. This novel HfB2-ZrB2/ZrB2/Al2O3 solar absorber coating exhibits a high spectral selectivity (α/ε) of 0.93/0.07. Considering the application environment, the thermal shock resistance experiments are carried out at 70�C, room temperature and 400 �C in air to test the applicability.
