AbstractThe effects of of C addition onmicrostructure and properties of Ni–Si–Cr ternary alloyswere investigated. The alloys were fabricated using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) casting route. It was found that Cwasmainly presented in the formof solid solution and CrXCY hard particles (Cr23C6 and Cr7C3). Microstructure and properties of the alloys varied with the C fraction. The alloy containing 1.14 at.% C showed fine and uniformmicrostructure. Bending strength, compressive strength and fracture toughness of the alloys reached the maximum value in 1.14 at.% C.
