AbstractSnO2 coated mesocarbon microbeads (MCMBs) composites were synthesized via a microwaveassisted method. The effect of SnO2 content on the electrochemical performance of the composites as anode materials in lithium ion batteries was investigated. The results show that an appropriate amount of SnO2 coated on MCMBs results in an improvement in both capacity and capacity retention. The composite with 10 wt% SnO2 achieves best electrochemical performance with a capacity retention of 378 mA h/g after 30 cycles.
