AbstractSubstituted 2-aminothiophenes were synthesized through Gewald reaction by using an easily available solid base catalyst, sodium aluminate. Cost-effectiveness, mild and environmentally benign conditions, and excellent catalytic performance are the features of this system. Furthermore, the NaAlO2 catalyst can be swimmingly recovered and reused in this reaction.
